Pratt Institute: Resist, Refocus, Rebuild
April 27 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This four-part lecture series looks at community and people-led approaches to counter growing income disparity, and the apparent federal abandonment of social, economic and environmental justice by the current administration. Over the past year, people have organized and protested, to RESIST attacks on immigrants, Latinos, African Americans, Muslims, LGBTQ people, and others. Local governments and other local actors have pushed back with positive actions to address housing needs, raise the minimum wage, and address climate change. In this lecture series, we will REFOCUS the agenda on community and people-centered priorities, and begin the process to REBUILD our democracy.
The lecture series will focus on how local actions can provide short-term resistance and long-term alternatives. Attention will also be given to how we develop, achieve and sustain diverse and dynamic communities of opportunity and environmental justice.
Lecture Series organized by:
Ron Shiffman, Professor, Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment and
Eddie Bautista, Executive Director, NYC Environmental Justice Alliance.
