New York City Transit Seeks Assistant Director, Government and Community Relations

Salary range: $81,829 – $129,343 (Grade D, 634 points)

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director will be accountable for performing activities and outreach to achieve the goal of cultivating public understanding and support for NYCT issues, policies and projects. The incumbent will interface with elected officials, governmental agencies, community boards, local development corporations and community civic groups. The Assistant Director will also respond to inquiries and requests for information from these entities and also, staff public hearing and special events, including station openings and major policy announcements.

Education and Experience

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field and eight (8) years of full-time paid experience, including three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience. OR
  2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience.

Desired Skills

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Strong community/political consensus building and decision-making skills. Experience in a government agency, community based organization or public relations firm. Understanding of local, state and federal legislative and political processes. Mastery in interpersonal communications.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Ability to Analyze Quantitative and Qualitative data.
