1. JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Development Coordinator

Green Worker Cooperatives is a Bronx-based organization dedicated to incubating worker-owned green businesses in order to build a strong local economy rooted in democracy and environmental justice. We train and develop worker cooperatives that have a positive environmental impact and enable the transformation of their members and community. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for managing all fundraising initiatives for the organization with an emphasis on growing our base of individual donors. The Coordinator is also expected to research & identify prospective foundations, and write proposals & grant reports.

Duties

  • organize at least three fundraising events per year
  • Prepare monthly appeal letters for potential donors
  • Maintain regular communications with existing donors
  • research & identify potential grant funders
  • write and edit grant proposals
  • complete grant reports
  • schedule meetings with foundation representatives and manage all related communications
  • represent GWC at relevant meetings, events, conferences, etc.

Skills

  • comfortable reviewing financial statements

Qualifications

  • 2 years experience writing grant proposals or leading individual donor campaigns
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of worker cooperatives
  • Bronx residents preferred

Salary: P/T, 20 hours per week at $30 an hour.

Start Date: Position begins immediately.

2. JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Co-op Academy Teaching Assistant

Green Worker Cooperatives is a Bronx-based organization dedicated to incubating worker-owned green businesses in order to build a strong local economy rooted in democracy and environmental justice. We train and develop worker cooperatives that have a positive environmental impact and enable the transformation of their members and community. The Co-op Academy Teaching Assistant is responsible for working with the Co-op Academy Coordinator, to provide facilitation, structure, process support, and overall management of Green Worker Cooperatives’ Co-op Academy, a pioneering business boot camp for teams of entrepreneurs seeking to launch worker-owned cooperative businesses.

Duties

  • Schedule all Co-op Academy workshops, orientations, and graduations;
  • Manage logistical needs for all training activities including venue setup, equipment, food, childcare, and interpretation/translation;
  • Manage online & offline tools that track feedback and progress for each participant and their respective teams in meeting program metrics & objectives;
  • Prepare all materials & handouts for session activities;
  • Collect weekly team presentations and manage the order of the presentation & timing;
  • Communicate in-class information to course participants
  • Track all meetings between participants and their mentors, teaching team, and service attorneys
  • Manage scheduling of all volunteers assisting with workshops, orientations, and graduations;
  • Provide a positive environment in which participants are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process;
  • Be available for appropriate meetings, office hours, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Must be available weekly, on Monday evenings from 4:00pm to 9:30pm, and other designated daytimes for meetings with staff and volunteers;
  • Tech-savvy with knowledge of Google Drive applications

 

Salary: Part-time (P/T), Maximum of 20 hours per week at $30 per hour
